Great Danes and Wasabi do not mix

I love sushi.

I mean, I REALLY love sushi!

There is nothing better when you have a craving than a Dragon Roll dipped in some quality soy mixed with fresh wasabi.

And my favorite has to be the shrimp rolls

My favorite place to go is probably Watami. They are kind of run of the mill but they have ALL YOU CAN EAT SUSHI!

I could spend hours there (and have!). Breaking out my favorite book, I relax and gorge and graze. Hours pass and I start to nod.

“Sir! It is almost two p.m. and you have been here for almost three hours. It is time to go!” chimed in the waiter.

“But you are “All You Can Eat!””

“I think you cancelled that when you started snoring.”

“Snoring?!?” I sat up straighter.

“Yup!” he said. “You were snoring so loudly that the cook came out of the kitchen to see what the commotion was. He thought it was the smoke detector.”

“Really?!?”

He just nodded.

Deep breath.

“Okay, let’s get my “to-go” container.”

Philly Rolls?

Check!

Spicy Tuna Rolls?

Check!

Rainbow Rolls?

Check!

Shrimp Tempura?

Ohhhhhhhh, yeah!

And, finally, the best of the best… Crab Rangoon!

Never had Crab Rangoon?!?

Were you raised by the Amish?

Crab Rangoon is like having a cheese flavored crab oral fantasy. Warm and savory and sweet!

YUM!

The fat man on a diet ordered two large orders of Crab Rangoon and sailed out of the place with Heaven in foam containers and plastic bags.

Arriving at the house, I let the dogs out to pee and laid out the leftovers so I could put them in the fridge. The waiter had even given me packs of mustard and wasabi but I popped those into the trash and packed everything else in the fridge.

Oh, damn. I gotta walk the dogs. Well, the husky comes first. The Great Dane looked so sad but his turn would come next.

30 minutes and 5 thousands steps later the husky was done with his walk and I opened up the kitchen door.

That, is when it hit me!

Dog food. A lot of dog poop.

The trash can was knocked over on the floor and the kitchen was aromatic to say the least. I put the dogs in the yard and cleaned up.

Stepping out in the yard I noticed that the Great Dane had been busy again. Pile after pile of presents from the dog were literally everywhere but they were kinda odd looking and smelled funny.

That is when he passed the first of about 30 packets of oriental mustard and a hell of a lot of wasabi.

Colorful!

But gross!!!!

Now Let’s Do It Right!

Crab Rangoon

4 ounces crab meat – can be fresh or canned

8 ounces cream cheese

1 small green onion

Olive Oil

Soy Sauce

Garlic

Vegetable oil for frying

Wonton wrappers

  1. Chop the onion finely.
  2. Shred the crab and mix it with the onion and cream cheese.
  3. Add soy sauce and garlic to flavor.
  4. Lay out the wonton wrappers flat.
  5. Dollop out a heating tablespoon per wrapper.
  6. Dip your fingers in the olive oil and bring the sides up into a star shape.
  7. Crinkle the edges to seal them.
  8. Lightly fry the wontons in the vegetable oil until done.
  9. Should make 16 crab rangoon.
  10. Enjoy!

    Hey Llew!

Do you know if there is such a thing as soy-free, gluten-free wonton wrappers? I am allergic to soy and have Celiac Disease. I really miss Chinese food.
