Most of you know by now that I am not a huge sports fan.
Powerlifting…yeah.
Football…noooooooooo.
And that surprises a lot of people because I was born in Columbus, Ohio AKA the home of Ohio State University AKA FOOTBALL CITY USA!!!
I spent many a day growing up sitting around the TV with the adults with beers dressed in scarlet and gray and singing:
“Fight the team across the field
Show them Ohio’s here…”
I was bored silly UNTIL…
There is always something needed when the adults are watching football.
RIIIIGHT….
Food!
My grandma would always be scrambling around making sure everyone had something to eat by the time the game came on. She taught me well.
BUT…
You grow up and leave home and realize no matter how things change, they stay the same.
Take the Super Bowl for instance. PLEASE take it.
I don’t hate pro football. I just find it a bigger waste of time than, say, trying to find a winning lottery ticket for the Powerball.
Football puts me to sleep but somehow people always seem to think of me when the Super Bowl comes around.
I always get invites to Super Bowl parties and I understand why.
Most football fans just plain can’t cook.
Have you ever tried eating some of the stuff on those football buffets?
Overcooked tacos?
Chewy chicken wings?
Meatballs that would make better shotgun shells?
Bleh!
So, even though they try to hide it, I know I get invited.
And, you know what…
Hey, I’m a cook.
Touchdown!!!
